Vendor AI Answers

Vendor AI Answers will display AI generated answers to the vendor to save them time when they are responding to questionnaires. AI answers will be generated based on all of the evidence available on the security review, and vendors can choose to edit them to add context or clarification. This means vendors can respond to questionnaires faster, and VRM users can start their analysis sooner.

This is especially helpful for admins and security teams managing many vendors or responding to tight deadlines during audits.

Turn On AI Answers

Before using AI Answers, an admin needs to enable the automation from the Vendors settings page:

  • Select Vendors from the left-hand navigation menu

  • Click Settings

  • Choose Security review rules

  • Scroll to the Automations section

  • Toggle Show AI answers to vendor to On

Please note: You can also choose to toggle AI Answers visibility on or off at the individual security review level. This gives you more control over whether vendors see AI-generated answers for each specific request.

Share the Security Review Link with a Vendor

To send a vendor their security review request:

  • Select Security Reviews from the left-hand navigation menu

  • Locate and click on the vendor you want to request information from

  • On the vendor's profile (right side of the page), click Request Evidence

  • In the pop-up window, you can:

    • Enter the vendor’s email address to send them an invite directly

    • Add an optional message for context

    • Or click Copy link to send the link manually outside of Vanta

If you'd like to preview the vendor experience, paste the copied link into your browser. This allows you to see exactly what the vendor will see when they open the request.

What the Vendor Sees

When a vendor opens their Security Review Page, they’ll see:

  • The name and description of the request (e.g., Github security review)

  • An informational banner explaining that Vanta AI will use all available evidence to help answer questions.

  • Instructions to upload documents (e.g., like SOC 2 reports or business agreements)

  • A status panel showing:

    • How many documents have been submitted

    • Their progress on any questionnaires

  • A Complete Questionnaire section

  • An Add documents button for additional uploads

When a vendor uploads a supported document, Vanta will process it automatically. Once all preferred evidence is available or the vendor has responded to all requests for evidence, AI generated answers will be available to the vendor.

To view the results:

  • Locate the Complete Questionnaire section

  • Select the Get Started button

  • From there the vendor will be taken to the questionnaire page where Vanta will display AI-generated responses based on all available evidence

From this page, vendors can:

  • Review the AI-generated answers

  • Manually edit or update any response

  • Add additional context or clarification as needed before submission

Encourage vendors to check each answer to ensure accuracy, since AI-generated content may require review or correction.

View AI Answers When a Vendor Uploads a Document

Once a vendor has uploaded their documents, follow these steps to view AI Answers:

  • Go to Vendors from the left-hand navigation menu

  • Select Security Reviews

  • Locate and click on the vendor from the list (for example, AWS)

  • Scroll to the Questionnaire section

  • Click the Review Questions button

  • On the questionnaire page, AI-generated answers will appear in the right-hand panel, powered by the documents the vendor uploaded
