This is a quick reference guide for users who have moved the Vanta Agent to a MDM

Devices being displayed twice:
- You can control monitoring by Vanta Agent from the computers page. Select the device you want to remove monitoring for, chose “Remove computer” and confirm this action.

- You can Also Remove the Vanta Agent from the Command line directly on the Monitored Computer:
- If you want to check the version on a specific laptop, run: vanta-cli --version
- If you want to see a list of available targets, run vanta-cli update
- To ensure each agent is up-to-date, run
- sudo /usr/local/vanta/vanta-cli update --``target=2.0.9
- Then to uninstall the agent, run:
- sudo /usr/local/vanta/vanta-cli uninstall --deactivate --secret=<company-secret>
- The company secret can be found under the Remediation Instructions on the unmonitored computers tab: https://app.vanta.com/computers?tab=unmonitored
Having to move users to separate groups for MDM and Agent:
- With the new changes, having to move users who only use the agent to separate groups is no longer necessary. You can now setup monitoring for both MDM & Agent or just the Agent itself.
Assigning users to mdm and agent in inventory
Before if a computer was not displaying the agent but showing up under being monitored by a MDM. The owner would have to be assigned in the inventory page. Now with the new changes the computer can be assigned using the 3 dots next to the machine on the computer page itself.
- The button under the 3 dots … “Reassign or Assign Computer”
