Adding Custom Notes to Policies

Adding custom notes to a policy in Vanta helps teams capture important context, clarify intent, and ensure the policy reflects how things work in your organization. While Vanta’s templates provide a strong starting point, custom notes let you layer in practical details, like tool-specific instructions, team ownership, or company-specific exceptions. This is especially helpful for aligning policies with real-world processes, helping auditors understand how a control is implemented, or guiding internal teams responsible for following the policy. In short, custom notes make your policies more useful, more actionable, and more aligned with your day-to-day operations.
