The read-only MongoDB Atlas for Government integration syncs user and cluster data to automate multiple tests and ensure your databases are set up securely. By connecting your account, Vanta can monitor your database configurations and help you remain compliant.

Please note: This article specifically covers the MongoDB Atlas for Government integration. The administrative interface and endpoints are separate from the standard commercial MongoDB Atlas interface.

Connecting Vanta and MongoDB Atlas

To ensure correct permissions are inherited, an Organization Owner is required to generate the API key.

  • Navigate to your MongoDB Atlas for Government account and select the organization you would like Vanta to monitor

  • Select the Access Manager page, followed by the Organization Access page

  • Select Create API Key

  • Create a new key with Organization Read Only permissions

  • Select Add Access List Entry and add the IP 34.227.127.165/32

  • Copy the generated values

  • Navigate to the Integrations page in Vanta and search for MongoDB Atlas for Government

  • Select Connect

  • Paste the Public Key and Private Key into the respective fields when prompted

  • Select Validate and Store

Troubleshooting Connection Scope

After connecting your environment, your Multi-Cloud Cluster Database may not appear within the Connection Scope.

Vanta is currently unable to retrieve these resources from MongoDB Atlas for Government via the Get all clusters API endpoint. While we work to support this endpoint, you can satisfy test requirements by providing manual evidence.

  • Vanta accepts manual evidence via document upload

  • You can upload a screenshot or report of your Multi-Cloud Cluster alert settings and backups to the relevant test.
