The following Help Center article is for Vanta's Managed Service Providers. For additional questions, please reach out to your Vanta Channel Representative.

As a Vanta MSP Partner, you have access to a Not-for-Resale Vanta account. You can use this license to continuously monitor your own company’s environment for security and compliance.

To keep the NFR license, partners must:

NFR Terms for new partners (Partners that signed up on or after October 1, 2024)

Qualified partners are eligible to receive an NFR, limited to the following products:

  • Growth Package with 1 free framework up to 100 employees

  • Advanced Vendor Risk Management up to 50 vendors

  • Custom Role-based Access Control

To keep the NFR license, partners must:

  • Deploy a paying customer within 90 days of sign-up and

  • Have at least one paying customer on the next tiering adjustment date (February 15 or August 15)

Example A: Partner joins on April 1st and deploys a customer on June 30th, which is within the 90 days of sign-up. The partner should be able to keep their NFR until the next tier adjustment date on August 15. If by August 15th, they still had an active customer, they’ll continue to keep their NFR for another 6 months until February 15th. If they no longer have a paying customer by August 15th, then their NFR will be locked. Once they deploy, we can unlock and they can keep access until the next tier review.

Example B: Partner joins on July 30th, which is within 90 days of the next tier adjustment on August 15th. The partner will keep their NFR provided they deploy a customer by October 30th. If yes, they’ll keep the NFR until the next tier adjustment on February 15th.

Other NFR Rules

  • Other products will be billed at a 50% discount on a monthly basis as long as the NFR is active in the console

  • Inactive NFRs that aren’t logged into for over 90 days will be locked

Activating your NFR Account

Step 1: Activating your NFR Account

  2. From the Customers page, click on “+ Add Customer”

  3. Select the “This is a Not-for-Resale domain” check box and complete the pop-up window.

  4. Make sure to type in "nfr-" then your company domain

  5. Choose one product you want to enable.

  6. This account will now serve as your NFR account. Your NFR account can have one framework/product for free, as such, you may still be billed for additional products.

Note: Existing accounts with a current Vanta contract cannot be flagged as an NFR. Please speak with your Channel Manager on how you can leverage the NFR offering.

Step 2: Activating other tools for success

Once you have your NFR account provisioned, it’s time to activate other tools for success:

  • Enroll to the Vanta Partner Academy

    • Vanta Partner Academy offers on-demand training to master the Vanta platform and earn a Vanta Admin certification. Ideal for new and current partners needing platform training.

  • Bookmark the Technical Help Center and Partner Help Center

    • Our Technical Help Center is the knowledge base for technical questions and support. Ideal for troubleshooting customer issues or managing your NFR account, the Technical Help Center is your primary resource for technical assistance.

    • Our Partner Help Center has articles addressing our partners’ most frequently asked questions, covering both technical and program-related questions. The Partner Help Center is a good starting place. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please reach out to your Channel Representative for further help.

Step 3: Identify team members and assign roles

Now it’s time to identify who from your team will be working together to implement your NFR account. We recommend having a kick-off meeting to establish goals, timelines and define key roles:

  • Responsible: Team member(s) responsible for completing Vanta tasks

  • Accountable: The one team member held accountable for the overall project. Typically a program or project manager, this person will delegate to those responsible and ensure that tasks are completed on time.

  • Consulted: Subject-matter experts who can be consulted by the team.

  • Informed: Those who are kept up-to-date on progress

Responsible and Accountable team members will need Admin access in the NFR account. We recommend giving Consulted and Informed individuals Editor or View-only Admin access. Learn more about Vanta User Roles here.

Step 4: Add team members to your NFR Account

If you’re working with other team members to implement your NFR Account, you can add them as Admins from the Console or within the NFR account’s User permissions page.

Adding Admins from the MSP Console

  • Reference section ‘4. Adding Admins’ and ‘5. Adding an Admin into a Specific Account/Customer’ in this help center article.

Adding team members from the NFR Account

  • You may also want to add other team members who do not need Admin in your MSP Console. If that’s the case, an account admin can manually add another team member from the User permissions page.

  • Click on ‘+ Add user’, select ‘Already in Vanta’ or ‘Invite to Vanta’, and complete the required information.

  • Integrate systems, including 4 key systems: Identify Provider, Cloud Provider, Version Control System and Task Tracker

  • Scope integrations

  • Customize control matrix (if needed)

  • Assign owners to tests and controls

  • Complete policies

  • Set up employee security, risk management, third-party vendor management and vulnerability management program
