The Trust Center AI chatbot allows visitors who have access to your Trust Center to ask questions about your security and compliance program. The chatbot answers using the content you added to your Trust Center, including FAQs, controls, resources, updates, subprocessors, and indexed link-based resources. This helps reduce manual back-and-forth with buyers and prospects.
Enabling the chatbot
To enable the AI chatbot:
In your account header, click the Settings icon.
In the page menu, scroll to the Features section and select Customer trust.
Go to the Trust Center tab.
Scroll to the Enable AI chatbot section.
Use the toggle to enable or disable the chatbot.
Select an Access setting:
Internal use only: The chatbot will only be shown to users logged in to your Vanta account when viewing the Trust Center internally.
Authenticated viewers: The chatbot will only be shown to viewers who have been granted access to your Trust Center. The chatbot can only use content that the viewer has permission to access.
All viewers: The chatbot is available to anyone visiting your public Trust Center. The chatbot can only use content marked as publicly visible in your knowledge base.
Chatbot resource access
The chatbot uses Trust Center content the current viewer has access to, based on the chatbot's access setting. This includes FAQs, controls, resources, updates, subprocessors, and link-based resources that are available to that viewer.
If a resource requires access approval or an NDA, the chatbot will not reference it unless the viewer has been granted access.
Link resource indexing
Whether a link resource can be referenced by the chatbot depends on the resource's customer visibility setting in the knowledge base and the chatbot's access setting.
To add a link for the AI chatbot to reference:
From the Trust Center editor, go to the Resources tab.
Click the pencil icon.
You can add a link in one of two ways:
Add an existing link: Select a link resource that already exists in your knowledge base. If the resource is marked private, adding it here changes its visibility to public.
Add a new link: Create a new link resource, which is added to your knowledge base with visibility set to public.
Once a link resource is added, Vanta starts scanning the content right away. Link-based resources are re-scanned about every 24 hours to keep responses up to date.
ℹ️ Note: Subpage indexing is turned on by default for new link resources. You can turn subpage indexing off, or change the resource's visibility, by editing the resource from your knowledge base.
Testing the chatbot
Go to the Trust Center page. From the Overview page, click the View button.
You’ll see the chatbot on the Trust Center, where you can ask questions about security and compliance.
Vote on whether or not you found the answer helpful. You can do this in two ways:
On the chatbot at the bottom of the answer.
From the Activity page, followed by the AI insights page, you can look at a history of all the chatbot conversations and can vote on the answers there as well.
