If you're unsure whether the Vanta Device Monitor is installed and running on your computer, here are a few ways to check and confirm.

Check your Onboarding task Set

Navigating to https://app.vanta.com/onboarding will indicate that the Vanta Device Monitor has been downloaded and registered to your profile.

Run the 'Doctor' command

  • The Vanta Device Monitor has an inbuilt diagnostic tool called Doctor. This command will provide output to confirm that the Vanta Device Monitor is running, along with additional diagnostic information.

  • A guide on how to run 'Doctor' for Mac, Windows & Linux can be viewed here: Doctor Command

  • Once you run this command, the output should confirm whether the Vanta Device Monitor is running successfully or not.

On the Vanta Dashboard

  • An admin on the account can view the Computers Page to check if the Vanta Device Monitor is monitoring a device and when it last synced to Vanta.

  • Ideally, the Vanta Device Monitor should be checking in at least once every 24 hours (if the device has been on and connected to the internet). If the Vanta Device Monitor has not synced in the last 24 hours, follow this guide to force a reset: How to fix a device not checking in

  • If you are still unable to confirm that your Vanta Device Monitor is installed and running, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] with the steps you've taken, and we will be happy to assist you.
