Vanta integrates with Kolide to sync device compliance data and support automated device trust monitoring. By pulling real-time device posture information, Vanta helps ensure that only compliant devices retain access to company systems. This simplifies device access reviews and supports compliance requirements.

How It Works

Kolide is a device trust and compliance platform that ensures devices meet your organization’s security policies before granting access to applications and resources. Vanta integrates with Kolide to sync device compliance data on an hourly schedule.

Use Cases

Connecting Kolide to Vanta allows you to:

  • Check device compliance status as reported by Kolide

  • Verify that only compliant devices have access to organizational resources

  • Monitor device posture and security policy adherence

  • Support compliance requirements with accurate device data

Requirements

  • Administrator account in Kolide to access the Admin Console

Connect the Integration

  • In your Vanta dashboard, locate the Kolide integration

  • Select Connect – this opens a modal to enter your API token

  • Vanta will prompt you to provide the API token credentials. The token must have appropriate permissions to authenticate against the Kolide API and perform requests through the Device Compliance API

  • If you don’t already have an API token:

    • In Kolide, go to Settings → API Tokens

    • Select Generate New Key

    • Configure the token (no special write permissions required)

    • Select Generate Token

    • Copy the generated token

  • Return to Vanta and paste the API token into the form

  • Select Validate and Store to submit your Kolide credentials

  • If successful, you’ll see a confirmation screen that the integration was connected

Permissions

Vanta accesses the following data from your Kolide account:

Vanta can view:

  • Data about your devices

  • Device compliance status and details

  • Device posture information

Vanta can update:

  • Nothing (Vanta does not have write permissions)

Invalid API token:

  • This occurs when the provided API token is incorrect, preventing Vanta from authenticating against Kolide. Check that the API token is valid, or generate a new one in the API Tokens section of your Kolide profile.
