Approving Trust Center Access Requests in Slack

Overview

When someone requests access to your Vanta Trust Center, you can approve or deny the request directly from Slack, without opening Vanta. This helps your team respond faster, keeping prospects and customers moving through your access pipeline with minimal friction.

Prerequisite: A Vanta admin must connect Vanta to your Slack workspace before this feature is available. See Setting Up Slack Notifications for setup steps.

How Trust Center access request notifications work

When a visitor submits a request to access your Trust Center:

  • Vanta sends a Slack notification to the channel configured for Trust Center notifications. Users with Manage access to Trust Centers (typically Admin, Trust Admin, or Trust Collaborator roles) can approve or deny requests from the notification.

  • The notification appears in the Slack channel (or direct message) configured in your Vanta Slack notification settings.

  • The notification includes the requester's name, email, company name, reason for access, requested access level, and (if applicable) requested documents.

  • You can approve or deny the request directly from the Slack message, no need to log in to Vanta.

Approve or deny a request from Slack

  • Open the Slack DM from the Vanta app.

  • Review the requester's details in the notification.

  • The notification includes action buttons: Approve (or Skip NDA and approve / Require NDA and approve if NDA is enabled on your Trust Center), Deny, and View in Vanta to open the request in the Vanta app.

ℹ️ Note: Denying from Slack is immediate. You will not be prompted for a reason, and the requester will not receive a denial notification email. To include a denial reason or send a denial email, deny the request from within Vanta instead.

  • If approved, the requester is notified automatically via email.

FAQ

Who receives Trust Center access request notifications in Slack?

Slack notifications are sent to the channel configured in your Slack notification settings. To change the channel, go to your admin Slack notification settings and update the Trust Center category.

What if I don't see an Approve or Deny button in the Slack message?

Ensure you are the designated reviewer for your Trust Center. If Slack is connected but you're not receiving notifications, check that your Vanta account email matches your Slack email exactly. See Personal Slack Notifications in Vanta for troubleshooting steps.

Can I still approve requests if I don't use Slack?

Yes. You can always approve or deny requests directly in Vanta under Trust Center > Access Requests.

Does approving via Slack notify the requester?

If you approve a request (from Slack or Vanta), the requester is automatically notified via email that they've been granted access.

If you deny a request from Slack, the requester is not notified. To send a denial notification to the requester, deny the request from within Vanta instead.
