Please note, this feature is currently in Beta. If you would like more information, reach out to Vanta's Customer Success team.
To leverage this feature, Jira must first be connected through the integrations page within Vanta. In addition, write access must be granted.
Create the Automation Workflow
- To enable task automation for a particular test, navigate to the Tasks tab and click Create Workflow.
- Next, specify the fields you want these generated tasks to have. These fields include:
- Which Jira integration connection you want to use
- Which Jira project
- Which issue type
- Jira user you want as an assignee
- The Jira epic
- The Jira sprint
- The name and description will be identical to what is automatically generated via linked tasks created manually. In particular, the name and description will specify the test name, a sample of entities that are failing, remediation instructions to fix the test, and a link back to the test for further information.
- After creating the rule, you should notice a Task automation-enabled badge in the test header:
In addition, a bolt icon will show up on the tests page:
When tasks are created
A task may not be created immediately. In particular, a task will only be created if the following conditions are met:
- The test is currently failing
- There is no open Jira task currently present that is linked to the test
- If a Jira task is closed or deleted, then we will create a new task
- If all open Jira tasks are linked to a particular test entity, then a task at the test level will still be created
Please note: A task may take 10 minutes to create. If a task is not created after 10 minutes, try making a new task manually and see if you are experiencing issues with your Jira integration connection. If you have no issues creating the task via the Create task button and still do not see the task show up after 10 minutes, please contact support@vanta.com
Tasks that are created automatically will have a bolt icon present
